Răstoci, Wooden church

The wooden church from Răstoci built by Greco Catholics was sacred in 1833, this we can find out from the text above the entrance. The belfry tower is very slender and it is passersby eye-catching.

The porch, placed in the west facade initially opened with carved arches, was closed. The pronave has a straight ceiling, the nave arch detaches from a carved beam with rope belt. The interior painting was made in 1832-1833 by painter Elizar Tocaci from Piroșa

The palette of colors used by the painter is a gloomy one giving a special atmosphere to the interior.

The church is known for the "The wheel of life", a painting in which the man is surprised as young, grown and old:"I want to dominate, I dominate and I dominated".

There was a painting in which king Franz Iosef was in a carriage but with the occasion of restoration works in 2006 through which the roof was strengthened half the picture was removed and only the wheels of the carriage and the horses' hoofs can be seen.

It seems that it is the only one painting destroyed of the inherited church from the orthodox after Greco Catholic religion abolishment.
